Craft Room Organization
Organizing is one of my favorite things. I know….you are probably thinking I am crazy! Well, you would be right! I am a little crazy, but aren’t we all? I think that sorting and organizing, and re-arranging things so they are easier to find and more usable is super exciting. I like the process and I love the end result. I especially LOVE organizing my newly decorated craft room. I like sorting through all my fun craft trinkets. I always find things that I forgot I even had! The process of craft room organization ALWAYS inspires me to want to get my craft on and create things!!
I can talk about this topic forever, so I will spare you the forever long blog post and just highlight a few of my favorite ways to organize my craft supplies. If you have any questions about how I organized something in my craft room or how to organize something in yours, just ask!! I would be happy to share any tips or ideas I have. Not that I am an expert, but I will say it again, I LOVE TO ORGANIZE things. I should probably see someone about that!!! 🙂
My favorite way to use things is to take advantage of the space on the walls, and shelves and not only organize things but make them look pretty. Organization and decoration at the same time, beautiful and functional! Awesome! I used some open frames to hang my bakers twine. That way it wasn’t stuffed in a drawer someplace I would forget about it, or have to dig it out when I wanted to use it.
I used an apothecary jar to store my washi tape collection, and an old blue jar to hold any spare wooden dowels I have laying around. I really like the way the wood looks in that old jar. It might make me happy to just see it!
I am constantly getting in and out of my homemade cards so I decided to put them in a metal wall hanging that I found. I don’t know what it’s original purpose was, but it works fantastic to hold my cards.
I used some thick cardstock to make dividers for each section of cards, ie. thank you, birthday, wedding, etc. That was it is easy to see what I have and what types of cards I need to make more of.
I used an old straw holder to hold all my decorative straws. And tin double tiered basket that I of course found at Hobby Lobby to hold various ribbons and fibers that got lost easily when I had them stored in a box.
I color organized all my buttons into 3 little jars and place them on a shelf. Again, they not only look pretty but are easy to find and use.
Don’t forget about the space on top of furniture. It is a great place to store things that you don’t want to forget you have but don’t use as often since it takes a little more effort to get to them.
I also have chicken wire attached to my desk for me to pin up things that are important to me, reminders, or things I don’t want to misplace. I use washi tape covered clothespins and I love the way it looks.
There are SO many ways to organize things, there is definitely not one right way. Just remember to store things in places that make sense to you and your routine. If you use your pens at your desk, don’t store them behind you on a shelf. Make things easy to use and easy to put away in their place. Organization is a never ending process, it is something I am always working on and revamping. That way it always works for me!

I love how this turned out! I need to live there. =)
You can come live here anytime you want my friend!
I love the idea of using frames for twine!! I don’t have much of it, but if I ever do I will totally consider that organizing technique!! And the metal card tin organization is awesome! I keep all my cards in a drawer and the envelopes in a separate drawer, but this would be so much better! I store all of my ribbon on old medicine cabinet shelves that I put together. I can see all of them on my desk in front of me rather than keeping them in a box like I used to do. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Megan! I bought my twin on Pick your Plum for a steal of a deal! Keep your eyes open, it is cheap-o! Do you blog? I would love to see the medicine cabinet shelves you use for your ribbon, that sounds awesome! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment:)
