PTA Membership Drive
I spend SO much of my time every day of the week working in my role as PTSA president for my daughters’ school. I LOVE their elementary school. I LOVE the principal, I LOVE the teachers and staff members, I LOVE the campus and the atmosphere they have created for all the students there. I LOVE it so much that I volunteer my life away just trying tohelp keep it an awesome place and provide fun activities, resources, and quality education for my kids and all the other 750 students. I LOVE being involved in the PTA, it is sometimes stressful but it is awesome and rewarding.
But…because it is so time consuming, it leaves me with less time in my life to blog, and be a homemaker. I have really had to prioritize my responsibilities this year. Being a mom wife and daughter are at the top, then PTA, then piano teacher, then friend and then house cleaner etc. This is the first time in my 11 year marriage that my husband has had to iron his own shirts. I have made less dinners, my house is messier than it has ever been and I am ok with all that. Time and season right?!?
Since PTA is such a HUGE part of my life right now I am going to incorporate PTA related activities into my blog. I know there are lots of moms and dads out there involved in PTA (go parents!) and I want to share some of the things we are doing and creating as a PTSA board. So for my first PTA related post I am going to share what we did for our recent membership drive. PTA is a membership driven child advocacy group. In short….without members we don’t function! So we do a membership drive each year to grow our membership.
This year I chose the theme “The Power of Positive Thinking.” We used super hero’s and posted on our bulletin board “I am a PTSA Member, what is YOUR superpower?” It went over really well. The display turned out super cute and I love the positive message it presented.
This is my awesome VP and Secretary both of whom I ADORE helping me make my vision come to life!
As people sent in their membership forms and dues we wrote their names on a superman shaped logo and stapled it onto the newspaper square. In case you are confused because I didn’t really know what to call it, the shape I am talking about is this:
We always give away some incentives to encourage people to join. This year we chose to randomly draw from the pool of people who signed up and give away 2 restaurant gift cards valued at $25 each. We also gave the class that had the most members join a popsicle party.
Gotta love a membership drive, they are necessary so might as well make them cute and fun!
