Cricut vs. Silhouette

Cricut vs. Silhouette

A few of you know that I sold my Cricut Expression this year and purchased a Silhouette Cameo. I ADORE my new machine and have not regretted my decision once! I have been asked a few times why I made the choice to switch to, so here goes my review, all opinions are my own:

Cricut  vs.  Silhouette: 10 Things about the two!
*at the bottom of this post you will find a quick comparison chart

1) I rarely used my Cricut, it was hard for me to locate an image I wanted to use because I had to go through each of the books for each cartridge. I also felt that the images were a little bit juvenile, better for little kids. Honestly, I used my Cricut the most when cutting out images for my kids to play with or make pictures and posters. It was perfect for their school projects. But, it was overwhelming for me to thumb through each book searching for a cartridge and so many of the images in each cartridge were duplicated over and over, like flowers, circles, butterflies, birds, etc.

2) Each Cricut cartridge is really expensive and I felt that with the duplication of images I was paying for cartridges with the same types of images over and over. I would buy a cartridge just because it had one image, like a bracket, I wanted and then I would end up with a ton of images I never used.

3) Silhouette is great because I can purchase each image a la cart and only pay for what I am actually going to use. Plus I don’t have to go to the store or get online and order cartridges, I just log on and buy the image on my lap top and have it to use right away. The images are about a dollar a piece and they even have memberships where you pay a very nominal fee and you get a certain dollar amount of Continue reading

Summer Media Bucks

5MediaBuckscropped

Ok, so I had BIG plans this Summer to finally put my kids chore chart (that took me forever to make!!) to good use! The dreams were beautiful in my head, they went something like this: children happily doing their chores and smiling as they finish them and are rewarded with time on their electronic devices (computer, wii, netflix, etc) CRASH, the sound of my dreams NOT coming true and we are only TWO weeks into summer vacation! Agh!

I don’t know about you, but I HATE how much time my kids can and want to spend on games and shows!!! If I let them they would turn into electronic robots with bloodshot eyes and mushy brains who never looked up from their devices! Ugh! Seriously, how to control it? It is so easy to let them play their video games and computer games and indulge them in their tv watching because it gives me my kid free time I desperately crave during the endless hours of summer.

Let Me Count the Ways..

2102fthr32turns

This post is dedicated to my husband Brad. Today is Father’s Day and this post is a list of reasons why he is awesome and perfect for me and our girls. Now I didn’t say he is perfect, no one is perfect, Brad will be the first one to tell he is not perfect; but he IS perfect for our family.

Brad will not like this post because it is all about him and because it is not written with the intent of attracting attention from the blogosphere to grow my blog. Brad will like this post also because it is all about him and because it tells a story of why he is such an amazing dad and shows how much he is loved by his girls.

This Father’s Day Brad is in Kansas on a business trip. Bummer! So….since he is gone out of town and we can’t give him a real hug, this post is a “computer hug” through the internet. We love you babe, we think you are perfect! Why…well let me count the ways. Commence the trip through memory lane.
