Snickerdoodles
I do love cookies….hmm…I think perhaps I have mentioned that to you before! hee hee! Snickerdoodles are DEFINITELY one of my favorite cookies, but I just don’t hear about people making them very often.
Kind of a forgotten cookie…..but NOT forgotten at my house! They are delicious and my kids especially love it when I make them because they get to help roll the cookie dough into balls and coat them in sugar and cinnamon. Super fun!! Also, sugar and cinnamon…what doesn’t taste good coated in that combination?? Seriously, if you have never had a Snickerdoodle Continue reading

My Dog Follows Me Everywhere
I Love my dog Tucker. I used to think that I was NOT a dog person, but then I got a dog…….What?
Now I know that I am a dog person, but only where my dog is concerned, just look at that face, how could I not love him?! 🙂 I do like animals but I don’t necessarily love other people’s dogs….really just my own. Can anyone else relate to this? I mean no disrespect to other people pets, I am sure they are great, I just don’t necessarily want to pet them or have them slobber on me. LOL!
My dog follows me everywhere. All day long he pads around the house after me. At night he follows me as I check on the kids sleeping in their beds, and if I forget this part of our bedtime ritual he patiently waits outside their bedroom doors until I notice him so we can make sure my girls are safe and sound and asleep in their beds. He stands on the couch and looks out the window and barks at strangers (and people we know) if they even look they are going to enter our yard or knock on our door. He is very scary at a whopping 6.5 pounds! He does him best to protect our home.
So why did I get a dog if I didn’t even really like dogs?? Hmmm, that is truly the question of the day. Continue reading

Living the Dream
I often feel a bit like Cinderella. Not the Cinderella in this picture above though…… maybe this one is little more like it!
I often feel stressed, constantly cleaning and running and never catching up. I feel under appreciated, dirty, messy, and when I compare myself to others I find myself sadly lacking. Others seem to have it together, their hair is always styled and CLEAN, and their children sweet and well behaved. This of course is not true, I think everyone feels like they just can’t keep up with it all sometimes. We have to be so careful to not compare ourselves to others and to just focus on ourselves and be the best we can be! The truth is that we may feel like Cinderella, in rags and covered in grime, but in reality we are really beautiful and amazing and talented. Some days we just get a little worn down.
Perhaps we just need a little change in our perspective. Look at Cinderella in her rags in this picture, she is happy! So regardless of our daily circumstances, perhaps it is how we view it that makes the difference??!!
So instead of waiting for our Fairy Godmother to swoop in and make our dreams come true, stop and remember that right now your dreams are already coming true!

Cleaning Tips
A few weeks ago I spoke at our church’s monthly enrichment meeting. This meeting is just for the women at my church, and the monthly topics are focused on helping us to learn and grow spiritually and mentally so we can become the best wives, mothers and women we can be! I really enjoy these enrichment meetings. There is always something to learn, and I love the friendships I have built with the other women there. Those relationships alone are enough of a reason for me to attend!! But I always leave these meetings feeling uplifted and renewed and I usually come away with some type of new knowledge, and I am excited to be even better at my jobs of mom, wife and woman.
So, back to my first sentence. I was asked to give a short 15 min. presentation on cleaning and organizing. Now, if you know me you will know that I do LOVE a clean and organized house! Does that mean that my house IS always clean and organized?  Heck no….I wish!!! But I am not going to say no to an assignment talking about cleaning and organizing, that stuff makes me excited like a kid at Christmas. Even if I don’t use all the tips I shared, I wish I did, my life would run way more smoothly.

Cleaning Games
Our house gets messy, I need my kids to help out, but sometimes (okay, more like most of the time:) ) they just do not want to! Making the mess is one thing, cleaning it up is another! I cannot stand the constant fights I have trying to get them to take some responsibility for their messes. My oldest is 7 and lately her most common opinion is that I am only here in her life to boss her around! I feel strongly that my kids need to learn to work and clean and help out in our home. We are a family, and we are a team. Working together is important. Everyone in the household needs to feel a responsibility for the state of our house. But the question is, how to accomplish this? How do I get my kids to want to help out? How do I get cleaning and tidying the house to not be such a dreadful event?
